Vandervoort is seen here talking to his men, about the invasion being on again, off again, due to the bad weather in the English Channel. They are in a staging camp, somwhere in England.

Vandervoort is correcting one of his officers, about the fact everyone is ready and waiting to start the invasion.

Vandervoort has just walked into the Division Commander's office. He discusses the issue of where his battalion is going to be dropped. He wants to change the drop zone, till the General tells him, it will be a highly good chance that they drop that night.

They just have received word, the Invasion is on for that night. Vandervoort just threw his coffee cup on the floor, and is running back to the CP (Command Post).

Vandervoort is seen here, with his Adjutant, he is getting ready to brief his men on there mission. Explaining the strategic importance of taking ST Mere Eglise, France. And the use of 5 cent poppers, so they can identify themselves, without giving there positions to the Germans.

Vandervoort and his men, are flying over France and are getting ready to drop. He is reaffirming his men of their mission.

Vandervoort has just finished his annoucement and is getting ready to jump from his plane.

Vandervoort and his men have jumped and landed. The medic has just reconfirmed his suspicions, he fractured his ankle on the jump. He tells the medic to tie the boot up tight, so he can continue to march.

Vandervoort is raising hell of with his Adjutant, that nobody knows how to read a compass. The sign behind them, points in the opposite direction of their objective.

One of Vandervoort's officers is briefing him on the taking of ST Mere Elgise by the Battalion's X.O. (Executive Officer) and F Company.

Vandervoort and the rest of the Battalion have entered into ST Mere Elgise. Vandervoort is scolding his X.O. for leaving dead soldiers hanging off the telephone posts. He has just given a swift order to cut them down, no matter what.

Vandervoort is planning the defense of ST Mere Elgise. They have to hold the town, till rest of the Allies can come. This is the last scene with John Wayne in it. The End.
