Red River


John Wayne stars as Tom Dunson, and Montgomery Clift as Matt, his adoptive son. After the Civil War, Texax is poor and cattle bring no money. Dunson decides to try to drive the cattle all the way to Missouri.     


Dunson and Rupp(Walter Brennan), his sidekick, are seen here leaving the wagon train that is heading for California. Dunson and Rupp are heading for Texas.


Dunson has made it to Red River. During the night him and Rupp are attacked by indians. They are the same ones, who ambushed the wagon train, they left earlier in the day.


It is the day after the indians have attacked. They are crossing Red River. They have picked up young teenage boy (Matt), who is the only survior of the wagon train. He is seen riding in the wagon with Rupp.


It is 14 years later, and Matt is back from fighting in the Civil War. Dunson is briefing them, about doing a cattle drive to Missouri.


Dunson is talking to one of his neighbors. The neighbor came by inquiring about missing cattle, and the rumor of Dunson making a cattle drive to Missouri.


It is the night before the big drive. Dunson is asking for volunteers to sign up for the cattle drive. He is also explaining how treacherous it might be on the way to Missouri.


It is the next morning, Dunson and his men are seen moving the cattle out for the drive. They are going over a 1000 miles in 3 months.


Dunson and his men are seen driving the cattle through a bad thunderstorm.


Dunson and Matt, are overwatching the men driving the cattle across the Red River. This is the first time they have been there since arriving in Texas, 14 years earlier.


It is evening time and the men are bedding down. Matt is seen talking here to one of the men, Noah Berry.


Dunson and Matt are talking about the man, Matt just shot. During the night, the one man was trying to steal some sugar out of the chow wagon. In the process, he made so much racket, he scared the cattle into a stampede. Dunson was attempting to shoot the man, till Matt did it.


Dunson is left behind, and Matt is leading the drive. Here they are approaching a wagon train full of gamblers and equipment, heading for Nevada. They are underattack by indians.


Matt and his men, are helping the gamblers fight off the Indian attack, on their wagon train. They end up in being successful.


Dunson has recovered from his wounds and is on the chance for Matt. He is seen here meeting one of the ladies from the gambler's wagon train. Dunson is inquiring on Matt's whereabouts.


Matt and his men, arrive at Abilene, Kansas, with the cattle herd. After leaving Dunson, Matt decide it would be easier and safer to drive the cattle to here. Hoping the rumors were right, that there was train tracks leading to Abilene.


It is the next day after arriving in Abilene. Matt is awaiting the arrival of Dunson. Dunson is out for Matt's head, for taking over the wagon train, without Dunson's approval or support.


Dunson arrives in Abilene. The fight it out, with Matt's girlfriend pulling a gun on the two, and tell them to quit. They make and agree. The End.
