Flying Tigers



John Wayne stars as a commander of the Flying Tigers "Pappy" in Burma. Based on the real story of the Flying Tigers, who were a civilian volunteer group. They were formed and supporting the chinese in the fight against Japan, before and up to the bombing of Pearl Harbor.     



This is a letter from General Chang Ki Shack, praising the Flying Tigers for their support and a job well done.



The Flying Tigers are taking off on their first mission in the movie. Japanese bombers are on the way.



Here is one of the Flying Tigers taking off. The Tigers flew P-40 fighter aircraft in the movie and in real life.



Back from the mission, the Squadron's nurse (also Pappy's girlfriend) brings Pappy the personal remains from a new pilot "Dale" who was killed on the mission.



Back from Rangoon, Burma. Pappy is seen consorting with one of the new pilots he brought back, Woody Jason.



This is a aircraft chart of various Japanese aircraft. Pappy is giving a class on aircraft ID to the new pilots. It is common training to do aircraft and vehicle ID for all combat arms branches of the military.



Ol' Woody Jason is seen here entertaining children at a orphange near the Flying Tigers airfield.



Pappy has just notified his wingman and 2nd in command, that he failed to pass his flight phyiscal. He is grounded permanent, have to see the movie to find out what happens with Hap.



Pappy and his boys, are getting ready to take off on one of their first night patrols.



It is Dec 7, 1941. The boys are next to the radio. Listening to FDR's famous speech about the Japanese attacking Pearl Harbor, and committing America to war.



Pappy and Woody are seen flying here together on a very dangerous mission, to destory a Japanese supply train and railroad bridge.



This scene is near the very end of the movie. Woody and Pappy have just dropped nitro on the bridge. To see what happens after this, "Watch the Movie".
